Cosmetic products are usually packaged in various jars or tubes, but they can also be packaged in aerosol dispensers. Labelling rules for cosmetic products are described in the EU cosmetics regulation 1223/2009, while for aerosol dispensers there are also additional labelling rules, which are listed in the EU aerosol directive.
The following have to appear on the labels of the aerosol dispensers (for aerosol dispensers of 150ml or less the information may appear on an attached label):

| 2 | Symbol “3” (inverted epsilon) certifying conformity with the requirements of the Directive 75/324/EEC |
| 3 | Code marking (Batch number) |
| 4 | Nominal content by weight (not obligatory) and volume |
| 5 | Obligatory marking: Pressurized container: protect from sunlight and do not expose to temperatures exceeding 50°C. Do not pierce or burn, even after use. |
| 6 | Any additional operating precautions which alert consumers to the specific dangers of the product* |
| 7 | Nominal total capacity of the container (Directive 2007/45/EC). Usually it is shown by a number without unit in a square box |
| B. “Flammable” or “extremely flammable” aerosol dispensers | ||
| 1 | Flame symbol | |
| 2 | If aerosol was classified as flammable à indication “flammable” on the label | |

Member States may make the marketing of aerosol dispensers in their territory conditional on the use of their national language for the wording on the label.
